Have you switched or are you going to switch from HFM to other EPM software such as Oracle EPM, OneStream or Tagetik? Do you have direct access to your historical data that hasn't been migrated to the new application? If so, you got it right. It's one step that can easily be forgotten. Not only because you need this data regularly yourself but also for auditing and review purposes, it is necessary to have easy access to your archive and keep it secure.
What are the options:
1. Implement an archive environment within HFM 11.2
2. Extract all the data from the historical application and migrate it to the new application
3. Create an additional cube(s) in FCC (HFM migration path method)
4. Extract and store your consolidated data in an RDBMS
5. Print out all your data and keep it safe
All of the above options only provide an overview of various high-level options on how to access and secure your historical HFM data. Of course, each EPM application is specific and deserves an individual approach.
There are also several other facets involved, such as licensing, hosting, project & installation costs and recurring monthly costs. Important to list all the issues one by one and make a solid decision.
